Greats and Grands

My last grandparent passed away this past week. She was 94. I have been very blessed to have my grandparents for 50 years. I will be 50 next month.  My grandmothers oldest grandchild is 58.  Wow... that is pretty old to still have a grandparent!   Up untill this weekend, we were grandparents with a living grandparent.  This brings me to my point of telling you a funny story about my Dad and my 6 year old grandaughter Macy.....

He was trying to explain Great Great Grandparents, Great Grandparents, and Grandparents.  As, he told her that he and her Papa Cooter were her Great Grandpas, she ask him what about her Papa Jimmy. He told her Papa Jimmy was not a Great. She got furious with him and yelled.... My Papa Jimmy is Great too!  LOL

To Macy.....  All of her Grands are GREAT!!!!

Great Pyreneese

I am thinking about getting one of these cuties. They are great for protecting your chickens and other animals from cyotes. I am really worried about snakes this summer with the chickens.  I dread the day I walk out to visit our chickens and there is a big chicken SNAKE!!   I have heard that these dogs will keep the snakes away too!!  Besides their cuteness, now you know the real reason that I want one.  Well, I am still in the comtemplating stage about this beauty..... but who knows!

Fabulous Friday

Friday was a beautiful day. I decided at the last min. Thursday at work to take Friday off to enjoy a day at Botanical Gardens and the Zoo with my daughter and 2 of the most beautiful little girls that I know! And what a great decision it was! The weather was absolutely beautiful. We made lots of pictures at the Botanical Gardens.

Mottled Cochins

This is our new mottled cochin rooster. He is only 4 months old. He is beautiful! I want to name him "Domino" but Jimmy thinks I am crazy...lol He came as a pair with his hen, and lord knows what we are going to name her! These will be more like pets, even though we will be hatching some of these beauties in the incubator.

Carpet City Poultry Show

This past weekend we took our grandaughter Macy, to Dalton, Ga. to a poultry show. She had a great time! She met a new friend, Laura. We bought a Mottle Cochin baby for her to raise. She has carried it around all weekend. We also bought a pair Mottle Cochins, almost to the age of laying. I think they are so pretty with their black and white feathers. We arrived home Saturday afternoon to find 30 blue jerserys and dominiques hatched. It was a fun filled weekend!!

Baby Turkeys

We have Turkeys! We had our first baby to hatch last Saturday. He is so cute. I can't wait to put his picture on here. I am still having trouble getting my pictures from my phone onto my computer. We have Turkey, Blue Jersey Giant, and Dominique Eggs that are due to hatch Saturday. My husband called me at work to let me know that we had 2 baby turkeys hatch out today!

Yesterday we got our first Black Copper Maran Egg for our hens! This was something that I have been waiting for along time. I can 't wait to start hatching these babies!
